Monochrome Monday #3

This is a Monastery in my neighborhood and I thought it would look great in B&W. The building and grounds take up an entire block and I'd love to sneak over the fence to see what's in the garden. I read that a few years ago they had several statues stolen which is quite sad. Think of the beautiful photos that are just waiting to happen back there. I love the detail of the crosses in the window. They even have their own blog! If you want to see some more fascinating mono's, go here.

I would never have guessed a Monastery. Always like untouched snow. Nicely done.

Imagine stealing from a monastery! Nice contrast between the building and the snow.

That's a beautiful shot. I'd be the same way about wanted to sneak in and see the rest.

This is a perfect mono. I, too, really like the crosses in the windows. Enlarged, they are even nicer.

You're right -- this makes a perfect monochrome picture.

I wouldn't have guessed monastery either. Black and white's definitely the natural choice for it though!

Is it ironic that the word verification I got is "implet"?

You are right, it does make a good subject.
Doesn't look like the kind of monasteries I have known.

A modern monastery. Black and White give it austerity that's what it is expected in a Monastery, no ?
Enlarging the picture, the details of the windows are interesting, you're right.

Perfect. That thing looks huge and so serene.
Works great with the snow in the foreground as well :)

Nice one, kden. Makes one wonder if the monks live a b&w existence to go along with their b&w home.

I'd like to sneak around the house too, see what a monastery is like.

Cool! Nice shot. You know, I've never understood how people steal from a church or in this case a monastery. :-(
